History
Espita is a town rich in historical facts. On 15 February 1848, despite resistance from their neighbors, Espita fell into the hands of indigenous rebels during the Caste War, same as in 1850 led the Espitians to defend the people against the attack of the indigenous rebels known as the heroic deeds of the Large fifteen Espita.
Espita has the illustrious name Peniche Patricio Gutierrez, and now is colled Espita de Peniche Gutiérrez.

Location
Espita is located in the east of the state, and borders the following towns: North Sucila, South Uayma and Tinum, To the East Calotmul and Temozón, To the West is Cenotillo and Dzitas.

Place to visit
In this town we can visit many places the more importands are the cenotes and the Huencal hills.
Why to visit this place?
This town is very quiet where we can enjoy the tranquility and warmth of the people.
Cenote Cank´ba
In this cenote you can to swim but only in the half day, the cost is the $20 pesos.
For to enter you need to know swim very well.

Huencal hill myth:
The people say that the hill has an entry and that people who wanted to sell their animals but before arriving they had to thought of for how much to sell and they could not get more than there where thinking of .
And one person who was selling his horse came in and saw that there was a table with a lot of gold and was alone and so he took more than the had thought and when he left the door was closed and never the door opend again and the person was locked inside the hill and never heard of him again.
And today on certain dates in the hill ,you can hear the sounds of all animals that were sold in that place.
